Leadership fueled by Intention
I should have realized many years ago that being an employee wasn’t for me. I got easily bored by the day the day. I craved new challenges, and my creativity level was through the roof.
My mind said “Start a Business,” and guess what? I failed!
Fated for More, after Failure, Divorce & Death
While I clearly can’t possibly share all of my 38 years of history in such a small amount of website “real estate,” what I can share with you is significant, and what I can only hope to be encouraging.
While I’ve always held careers related to marketing and sales, since 2002, when I decided to venture into entrepreneur life (the first time) back in 2010, I am nearly certain I made every most common mistake new business owners can make. I started home organizing, and while running the day-to-day and jobs myself went just fine, I grew SUPER fast, took on way more than I could personally handle, hired too many people, too fast, and learned the hard way that being an employer was way harder than I had assumed.
After losing countless hours of sleep trying to problem solve on ways I could improve, I decided that the best solution was to dissolve the business, and take it as a learning experience.
Over the following 3 years after that, I ventured back into the corporate world, only to find myself going through a divorce during that time, and still feeling like I was far from fulfilled in what I had to offer.
In 2013, I met the man I am married to today, and he proved to be the other half that created a balance in my life. He had two kids and so did I.
All was not well and good still though. I was continuing to battle with my ex husband, and even felt scared of him. He and I had a child together, so non-communication was only an option to some degree.
Then one morning in August of 2014, I received a phone call that I will never forget. “He’s dead!” My ex-husband had passed away at the age of 35. The cause of death – a spider bite!

This was a major life change! It left my son without his dad (who he adored) and that meant I was my youngest son’s only parent!
A couple months later, I made a choice to go back into business for myself. I took everything I learned from my past experience, and focused on doing exactly what I knew best. I chose to start a marketing and social media business.
Three months after starting, I had hit $10k months (no employees).
A year later, I hired my first employee and 6 months later hired another.
Since that time, the business has merged into a coaching business, which was never in the plan! It wasn’t until a 2018 when women started asking me to coach them. At that point, I went with the direction that the business was going in and allowed fate to continue to happen.
Today, I have the same team, I have a happy and healthy family and the business has scaled consistently each year, making 2020 on track to achieve $750k+ With 1 full time, salaried employee and a select few of project based contractors.
I am living, breathing proof that failing is part of life, but it does NOT dictate your destiny, or control your future. Determination is the dictator of your destiny, and determination is 100% in your full control!
